09/08/'05 Jennifer withdraws from Generali Ladies - Jennifer
Capriati has pulled out of next month's Generali Ladies tournament to continue her recovery from surgery
to her right shoulder in January. There aren't any news on the date of her comeback on the tour, but I think that
she'll skip the last part of the year.
09/03/'05 Jennifer pulls out of the rankings - On Monday,
the 29th of September, Jennifer has pulled out of the WTA Tour Singles Ranking because players must have at least
three valid tournaments to appear on the ranking and Jennifer has got only two events (the US Open and Philadelphia).
When Jennifer will come back on the tour, she is going to get a protected ranking for some tournaments.
At this page, you can see some Jennifer's recents pics, taken at the Prince party on August 28, 2005.
07/30/'05 Jennifer is scheduled to play in Linz - Jennifer
Capriati was confirmed on Wednesday for October's Generali Ladies in Linz, Austria, becoming the third top player to
enter the $585 000 (about R4-million) event.
Capriati has won 14 WTA titles, but hasn't played since injuring her right shoulder in November. The October 22-30
Generali Ladies is set to be one of her first tournaments back.
07/20/'05 Jennifer withdraws also from US Open - Still
recovering from the shoulder surgery she had in Janauary, Jennifer Capriati has pulled out of the US Open. The
three-time US Open semifinalist hasn't played since losing in the quarterfinals of Philadelphia last November.
However, the 29-year-old is not expected to retire before attempting another comeback. Sources told that Capriati
has been working out hard with a physical trainer, but her shoulder hasn't recovered to the point where she can
resume practicing. Whether she'll attempt to play sometime this fall is undetermined.
07/07/'05 Jennifer withdraws from Pilot Pen - Unfortunately,
Jennifer was forced to withdraw from this year's New Haven tournament (which has won in 2003 over Lindsay Davenport)
due to her rehab from a shoulder injury, which is taking longer than expected. I hope that she will get ready for the
US Open, which starts on the 29th of August in New York.
05/05/'05 Jennifer commits to Pilot Pen - Jennifer
Capriati is among the first to commit to this summer's Pilot Pen, the tournament announced Monday. Jennifer won
this event in 2003 and advanced to the quarterfinals last year.
04/19/'05 Jennifer will not play before the US Open - Unfortunately,
it's sure that Jennifer will not come back on the tour before the US Open. I wrote an e-mail to Raffaella Reggi
(an ex Italian tennis player) and she said that Jennifer hopes to get ready for the last Grand Slam event of the year
(she has seen Jennifer in Miami, I think during the WTA tournament). So she will not play Wimbledon and many other
tournaments. She will lost many points on the WTA ranking, but she will get a protect-ranking, when she will start to play
again.
04/14/'05 No Roland Garros for Jennifer - Unfortunately,
Jennifer isn't on the entry-list of the Roland Garros (updated at April, 11), which is on the tournament's Official
Web Site (www.rolandgarros.org). After the Aussie, she is
going to miss also the French Open and she can't defend the last year semifinal (where she lost to eventual champion
Myskina in two sets). So she will lost many points on the rankings (where she went out of the top-ten - for the
first time since 2001 - on last week). I hope to add some good news soon.
04/02/'05 Some news about Jennifer - Jennifer
hasn't recovered from the shoulder sourgery yet. Unfortunately, at 99% she will not play in Berlin (which starts
on May, 2) and in Rome either: in fact, she isn't on the entry-list of the Italian tournament (updated at March, 30).
So, it's probably that she will give up also to defend the Roland Garros semifinal. But it seems that the
rehabilitation is going well and that Jennifer wants to come back on the tour as soon as possible. At this page, you
can see some Jennifer's recents pics, taken out of South Beach nightclub on March 30, 2005 in Miami Beach. She looks
like happy and in good shape.
02/24/'05 Jennifer has withdrawn from Miami - Unfortunately,
Jennifer hasn't recovered from the shoulder sourgery yet and she was forced to withdraw from the Nasdaq-100 Open.
There are no news on her comeback date.
02/13/'05 Jennifer should play at Indian Wells - Jennifer
has committed to the TierI Indian Wells event, the Pacific Life Open, which starts on March the 7th. It isn't sure
that she will play there, but she was in the list of the committed players. She has committed also to the Miami
tournament.
01/28/'05 Jennifer undergoes surgery on right shoulder - Jennifer
underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Friday to repair a torn labrum in her right shoulder.
The operation was performed in Wilmington by Dr. Craig Morgan, who said he expects Capriati to return
to a full playing schedule after rehab. No timetable was given for her return to the WTA Tour.
01/12/'05 Jennifer withdraws from Australian Open - Now
it's official: Jennifer has pulled out of the first major of the season, the Australian Open, due to the shoulder
injury that afflicts her from a couple of weeks. This is the second consecutive year that she didn't play in
Melbourne (in 2004, due to a back pain).
01/08/'05 Jennifer pulls out of Sydney tournament - Unfortunately,
the 2005 season isn't started well for Jennifer. She has withdrawn from next week Sydney outdoor event due to the
shoulder injury that has forced her to retire also from the recent
exhibition in Tampa. I hope that she will be able to
play at the Australian Open, which starts on Monday the 17th of January, in Melbourne.
