| Injury forces Capriati to withdraw from Pilot Pen |
06 luglio 2005
New Haven-AP -- Jennifer Capriati has announced her withdrawal from this year's Pilot Pen
tennis tournament in New Haven.
Capriati says her rehab from a shoulder injury is taking longer than
expected and she will not be ready to play when the Pilot Pen kicks off on
August 19th. She had arthroscopic surgery on her right shoulder earlier this year.
Capriati was one of the biggest names in this year's tournament. Her image
is on a huge billboard promoting the event along I-95 in New Haven.
The tournament will still have some of the top players, including Amelie
Mauresmo, Elena Dementieva and defending champ Elena Bovina.
The Pilot Pen added a men's competition this year that will feature
Fairfield native James Blake, Taylor Dent and Nicholas Massu. It is the
first combined men's and women's summer tournament leading into the U-S Open.
