| Capriati close to come back |
16 gennaio 2006
Far from considering retirement after losing more than a year to injury, former world No.1 Jennifer Capriati is planning
a return to tennis in March.
Capriati, who has not played since withdrawing from the Australian Open last year, has targeted Miami for
her comeback in March, just days before her 30th birthday.
But ongoing rehabilitation from shoulder surgery will make her the biggest name missing from the women's
draw at the Australian Open this year, which features eight former world No.1s.
A WTA Tour spokesman said on Saturday that Capriati had begun training and was confident of a return to
the circuit in two months.
She had reportedly hoped to return to tennis at the Australian Open this year, where she won her first
grand slam title, in 2001.
