Capriati talking technology in Las Vegas

12 gennaio 2007

LAS VEGAS, NV, USA - One of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's all-time greats, Jennifer Capriati, made an appearance on Thursday, January 11 at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show, showing her support for the Tour's title sponsor Sony Ericsson by partaking in a Q&A session, a one-hour autograph session, a raffle contest as well as a Sony blog.

A bubbly Capriati also spoke to Variety on how she feels about Sony Ericsson's new place in women's professional tennis.

"It's great to have a sponsor like Sony Ericsson," said the 30-year-old Floridian. "They're huge, they have all kinds of products, and they're fun. I have a W710i walkman phone, and I was using the K790i - it takes great pictures. I've gotten into all of that now. I text a lot too. I wish I could say I've been playing on the Tour since they took over; I haven't, but I will be."

Having made one of the great comebacks in tennis history in the early part of this decade, returning from adversity to capture two Australian Opens (2001, 2002), one French Open (2001) and reach the No.1 ranking, Capriati has been in injury-induced hiatus recently, missing 2005 and 2006 with persistent shoulder problems. It was a subject that the American addressed during her talk with Variety.

"These days, if I'm not travelling to go see a doctor I'm just hanging out, trying to have some fun. I'm still in Florida, I still work out, I'm still trying to come back."
