Aprile 2001

Jennifer Capriati knew it wasn't a fluke, and now the rest of the world does too. After she defeated the world's top-ranked player at the Australian Open in January, some people questioned whether she would ever be able to repeat the performance. She would and she has.

On April 22, Jennifer shut the number one down again and captured the first-place trophy at the Family Circle Cup. The final score: 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.
And, if there were still doubts, Jennifer erased them from the minds of her critics. She once again defeated Hingis in the semifinals of the French Open and and went on to grab her second Grand Slam trophy in a row, defeating Kim Clijsters in the finals (1-6, 6-4, 12-10).

Following her win, Jennifer sat down to talk about tennis and the Italian way of life:

Q. What role does tennis play in your life?
JENNIFER CAPRIATI: Tennis has a great part in my life, because it is my career, but also because it lets me express my personality, travel around the world, meet new people, and have fun.

Q. Your family is Italian. How would you describe the Italian way of thinking?
JENNIFER CAPRIATI: I think that the Italian way of thinking is funny, creative, and friendly. When I think of Italy, the first sentence that comes to my mind is: "Take it easy."

Q. What do you think about Fila products?
JENNIFER CAPRIATI: I think that Fila tennis products are great, because they match the advanced technology of apparel and footwear with Italian elegance and design. During my free time I also like to wear the workout products.
